Your February 2006 FloridaCycling Camp in Clermont, Florida was wildly successful!
Thank you for making this Camp so special:
We were blessed to have such an awesome group of people attending our first ever Camp! Each one of you contributed to ensure that our weekend was special. Thank you very much for the great attitudes and for the sharing of questions, suggestions, and knowledge. The end result and your words of encouragement further motivate us to deliver the best Camps and Tours possible.
Daily Recap:
It was nice to see all of your arrive on Friday with great expectations and plenty of questions in the driving rains. After the usual introduction and tasty lunch, we went to change and met back at the Inn to begin our first ride.
The first ride was lacking the structure we wanted because of the weather. We hope you enjoyed the beauty of the route if you could see it through your fogged lenses. Those conditions were less than ideal but you all braved it out and once we were all wet everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
After not much time to shower and rest, we had a great baked ziti dinner and an open discussion session. This open discussion session was a major component of the camp's success. Each one of you had great suggestions and questions. We all gathered around the weather channel waiting for some good news about the coming mornings ride.
Saturday began with a great breakfast. Then we waited, got our ride leaders to take us to some pretty country hills. We broke up into three groups and everyone begun to experience the pain of the hills. Each group had a different agenda from an skills stand point, but the most relevant topic was how to relax and breath while climbing. The over 20 mph winds often made this ride very difficult and almost epic, but most of you enjoyed the extra challenge and laughed it off!
The PRO Clinic in the afternoon was full of great information on the importance of proper Nutrition and Massage, and it ended with a very valuable and fun discussion with our PRO Riders. We hope the weather cooperates with us next time to go forward with the planned individual breakout sessions.
Pasta Vino was a great setting for Dinner on Saturday night, and clearly everyone was very hungry. We ate 9 big pies! A nice relaxing evening to end our second hard day of training.
Our ride on Sunday started at 8am with everyone bundled up to endure the 39 degrees weather, but the day turned out awesome by the time the hills and the sun came out. One of the nicest stops was at the famous Yalaha bakery...we dove for the warm apple turnovers, coffee, and some sweet bread.
After a hard ride and some escapes from the A group riders, we got back to a hot and tasty last meal. Your faces said it all...smiles and praises...we were so happy to have enjoyed this weekend together.
