Overview: The Venice area once again hosts the Suncoast Cycling Classic. This old-fashioned Florida Downtown with great shops and resturants makes a great setting for this fast criterium. The event includes an arts and crafts fair with many local vendors. Sundays Road Race in Sarasota County is flat and fast with some winding turns. Make this part of your fall season.
Highlights:
Please join us on Friday, Sep 22nd from 6-8pm for Pre-Registration, Pizza, and Refreshments. Registration late fee waived for those registering Friday evening. We'll wait for you at the Venice Holiday Inn, located at 455 US 41 Bypass North. Presented by Village Bike Shop and Sponsored by Budweiser. Remember that all Pre-registered riders will receive a FREE race T-Shirt. Online Registration close Thursday night, but you can also Pre-Register on Friday.

Don't miss Saturday's $500 FCC RUN OFFS!
Wether you think of the FCC RUN OFFS as your second race, warm-up race, or main race, you need to be ready to compete with a combined field of CAT 1-2-3-4! You will line up to race for 20 minutes plus 2 laps, sprint to win the first heat, take a couple of easy recovery laps, line up with the entire group again to race for another 20 minutes plus 2 laps, and sprint again to win the second heat. We often wish for another chance, well, this race will help us minimize the could have / should have stories! It is going to be a blast, and it could become a regular event if we all like it.

Bike raceing in Florida has never been better. After winnig 7 Tour de France events, Lance Armstrong has made cycling rise in popularity among among new athletes. Lance and ex- fiancee, Grammie Award winner, Cheryl Crow became such a high profile couple during the 2005 Tour de France that the mainstream media took notice of cycling again. Not since Greg Lemond in the lat 1980's and early 1990's had bike racing enjoyed such success in the mainstream media. Magazines like Men's Health nd Outside Magazine as well as Sports Illustrated all took advantage of the height of cycling and Lance Armstrong in recent years. Tyler Hamilton also emerged into some media oulets as the american journalists serched for the sports dark side and any doping scandel within cycling. Tyler Hamilton Foundation and the Lance Armstrong Foundation have worked for those affected by cancer and in Tyler's case other stuff.
